Visiting wellness retreats in Morocco is one of my fav travel activities. I love how exotic they feel compared to retreats in Europe – they’re often hosted in traditional riad buildings and infused with local Moroccan culture. Not to mention the affordability factor too…
In this guide – we outline the top wellness retreats in Morocco to suit every budget and interest.

Nosade, La Vida Surf, and Helios are our top picks for Moroccan wellness retreats. But every option on this list has something unique and exceptional to offer. Let’s look at each of these retreats and what makes them so good…
Nosade Desert Retreats, Marrakesh & Sahara
Nosade runs unique wellness retreats in the Sahara desert throughout the autumn, winter, and spring (it’s too hot in the summer).
Nomade’s desert retreats are typically 10 days long and prices start from €1495. They include yoga classes and meditation, half-board accommodation, airport transfers, camel trekking, and guided tours. You’ll get 12 yoga sessions which typically involve energising sessions in the morning and pranayama in the evening.
On a Saharan retreat, accommodation is in a traditional Riyadh or a Berber tent. You’ll get to spend unforgettable nights under the stars, experience the dunes, desert hiking, traditional live music, and Berber life. What a perfect way to combine yoga exploring and experiencing traditional culture!
Nosade also offer urban retreats in Marrakesh itself. These typically last five days and include accommodation, breakfast and dinner, six yoga sessions plus meditation and pranayama, a bike tour of Marrakesh, and airport transfers. Prices for their city retreats start at €595 which is great value and includes everything so you don’t need to worry about unexpected extras.
Cost – Prices start at £500 (€595/$635) per person.
La Vida Surf, Essaouira
La Vida Surf hosts amazing wellness retreats in Essaouira on Morocco’s Atlantic coast. They offer three options; yoga and meditation, acro yoga and nature, or yoga and cooking. And as you might have guessed from the name, you can also add some surfing to your retreat package.
Each retreat type has a unique format. If you go for the yoga and meditation option, then your programme might include journalling, morning and evening yoga, mindful hiking, workshops, surfing, or other traditional Moroccan wellness activities.
If you go for the acro or cooking options then your itinerary will be slightly different. The acro and nature retreat includes yoga workshops, hikes, a beach excursion, Thai massage, and professional photography. The cooking retreat includes daily yoga and cookery workshops, a nutrition seminar, hike, and Essaouria excursion.
We love that La Vida offers these unique retreat experiences that enable travellers to combine yoga with other holistic interests.
Cost – Prices start at £585 (€680/$735) per person in a shared room with en-suite.
If you’re interested in yoga specifically, then check out these Moroccan yoga retreats that include classes, meditation, excursions, and more.
Helios Fitness Retreat, Marrakesh
Helios offer luxury fitness retreats in Morocco and other exotic destinations around the world. Their Marrakesh retreat combines fitness, yoga, and hiking too. You can also extend it to include four extra days at a Saharan desert retreat too.
On a Helios retreat you stay in a traditional Moorish villa at the foothills of the Atlas mountains. The program includes daily fitness and yoga classes, breakfast and dinner, a luxury goodie bag, and private airport transfers.
The fitness classes include HIIT, mobility work, and boxing along with yoga. Wellness workshops are also part of the program, as is a hike into the Atlas mountains. You get to explore the stunning Mount Toubkal and enjoy lunch in a traditional Berber village.
The fitness retreat ends on the fifth day, but you can extend it and add an extra four days to head into the Sahara. The desert retreat element includes riding camels, quad biking, exploring the dunes in 4×4‘s, and watching the beautiful sunsets.
Cost – Helios retreat prices start at £1998 (€2371/$2572) for a shared room or £2287 (€2714/$2944) for single occupancy.
If you like the sound of an active break, then check out these Moroccan fitness retreats that include workouts and yoga classes.
Surf Berbere, Taghazout
Surf Berbere has been running Moroccan retreats for years. It’s where I did my first ever surf and yoga trip in 2009 and inspired my love of wellness travel!
Their retreats include daily surf lessons, supervised free surfing time, and yoga classes on their rooftop terrace. The classes are designed to complement surfing by helping you recover from a day on the waves and build muscular strength and flexibility to help you surf well.
Surf Berbere is located right on the water with incredible sunset views. This set of accommodation is rustic and full of charm. We’re talking double rooms and dorms where you can fall asleep to the sound of the waves… But they’ve also got other locations including apartments too.
Surf Berbere’s food is sensational. It’s always a highlight when I stay with them. Everything is made with tasty, fresh, nutritious ingredients and evening meals are enjoyed as a group (perfect for getting to know fellow wellness travel buddies).
Cost – Prices start at £470 (€547/$595) for one week which includes surf lessons, equipment, yoga classes, accommodation, and all meals.
If the idea of surfing sounds fun, then check out these Moroccan surf yoga retreats that combine active and chill-out activities.
Riad Nelia, Marrakesh
If you’re after a spa retreat in Morocco, then Riad Nelia should be top of your list. It’s a gorgeous boutique hotel with extensive spa facilities that’s located in central Marrakesh.
The riad features stunning indoor and outdoor pools, traditional yet modern interior design, and offers a huge range of wellness services. There’s a hammam steam room and sauna, along with an extensive list of local Moroccan spa treatments (like massages, scrubs, and wraps).
It’s worth highlighting that this option is very much a hotel rather than a retreat. So you won’t be eating group meals together or be participating in a shared programme of activities. But since spa retreats tend to focus on individual treatments and relaxation, we don’t think that’s a bad thing. It just means that you might miss out on some of the benefits that wellness retreats typically offer (like the built-in social aspects which are great for solo travellers).
It’s one of the top-rated spa hotels in Morocco, yet prices start at just £77 per night for a last minute booking! The average room price is a very reasonable £118 if you book in advance, which rises to £148 during the high season and Ramadan.
Cost – Prices are typically around £118 per night (€140/$152) for a standard double room (but you can get cheaper deals if you’re willing to risk a last-minute gamble).
Etu Fitness Retreat, Marrakesh
Etu runs fitness retreats in Marrakesh a couple of times per year. Their programmes are five days (four nights) long and include 4* accommodation, meals, fitness classes (HIIT, circuits, strength), and yoga sessions.
Participants stay at the Iberostar Club Palmeraie which is 15 minutes from Marrakesh’s central Medina and 30 minutes from the airport. It has a pool and spa on site so you can chill out between workout sessions. Plus there’s a free shuttle bus into the city so you can explore during your downtime.
Price – Etu‘s Moroccan fitness retreats are £699 (€829/$899) for a four night all inclusive package.
Marrakesh Yoga Studio Retreats
The Marrakesh Yoga Studio offers mini-retreats in a traditional Moroccan riad that’s located in the centre of the city. The stunning building features gorgeous local tiles, a small (but perfectly formed) pool, and is surrounded by fragrant flowers and lush plants. It’s a serene little setting in an accessible urban located.
The studio offers half-day retreats which are perfect for fitting into a city break holiday. They’re an ideal option for when you want to spend some time on yoga and relaxation without dedicating your entire trip to it. The beauty of their mini-retreats is that you can explore the souks and medinas one day and work on your yoga practice the next.
They also offer yoga classes by the hour if you just want to pop in and do a session. But we think their half-day retreats are great value at €95. You get a yoga session, a one-hour massage, and their delicious vegan meal for the price.
They also offer other blissful treatments like Ayurveda massage and sound healing bowls. So if you’re looking for somewhere that’s truly local, the Marrakesh Yoga Studio is ideal.
Cost – Prices start from £80 (€95/$100) for a half-day mini retreat.
No1 Boot Camp, Marrakesh
If you’re looking for a luxury wellness retreat in Morocco, then No1 Boot Camp has it all. It’s a high-end fitness and weight loss retreat that’s designed specifically for people who want to reduce their body fat.
The accommodation is incredible. You’ll stay in an epic hotel with gorgeous Moorish architecture and designer interiors. There’s a stunning pool and perfectly manicured gardens which add to the overall ambiance. If you want to make your weight loss journey more enjoyable, then No1 is the perfect solution!
The retreat includes boxing workouts, metabolic conditioning, HIIT sessions, and weightlifting classes. There are also other Moroccan-themed wellness activities on offer such as local hiking, and rejuvenation sessions like massage, hammam treatments, or just chilling by the pool.
You’ll receive a personalised consultation with their consultants to understand your health and wellness goals, along with your nutritional needs. They’ll also conduct a body weight analysis and take measurements to help track your progress.
The No1 Boot Camp is a truly luxury option where you can enjoy poolside cabanas and high-end accommodation. It has rave reviews from satisfied customers who lost weight and built muscle in a short period of time.
If you’re looking for a luxury wellness holiday where you can lose weight and learn healthier long-term lifestyle habits, then this is the retreat for you.
Cost – No1 Bootcamp retreat prices start at £2500 (€2967/$3218) for a six day stay.
Dfrost Yoga Retreats, Taghazout
Dfrost offers yoga and wellness retreats in their villa on the edge of the Imi Ouaddar nature reserve. It’s located near Taghazout on the Moroccan coast and is a two-minute walk from the beach. You’ll get to enjoy a swimming pool, roof terrace, and sauna in addition to your retreat programme.
Dfrost’s retreats usually revolve around yoga, meditation, and nutrition. You can opt for a three-night escape for €449 or week-long retreats starting at €749. A typical programme involves fresh juice, morning yoga, a healthy breakfast, and daily activities like SUP, evening yoga, meditation, and a veggie-packed dinner.
The rooms are a stylish combination of boho meets modern Moroccan – they’re truly gorgeous. All feature air-conditioning and are great value starting. You might need to share bathrooms in some of the rooms so check the individual room amenities when you book.
What we love about Dfrost is the huge range of additional activities they offer. You can choose to visit local souks or a commune, try massage or cooking classes, or go horse-riding and take in the natural beauty.
Cost – Prices start from £90 (€107/$115) per night.
Paradis Plage Wellness Hotel, Taghazout
This one is more of a wellness holiday than a retreat but we think it deserves a special mention since it operates throughout the year. While many of the retreats on this list only run on specific dates, you can visit Paradis Plage wellness hotel at any time. So if the above retreats don’t work for your schedule, then you might want to try this place instead.
Paradise Plage is located in the coastal village resort of Taghazout. It offers 4-day, 7-day, and 10-day wellness programs so there’s plenty of options to suit your availability and budget.
You get a personal wellness and fitness consultation along with your choice of one activity per day during your stay. These activities include…
- Cardio sessions – like boxing, interval training, and circuits.
- Strength and sport – such as boot camp workouts, TRX sessions, and kayaking.
- Mind and body – which includes of yoga classes, meditation and breathing techniques.
- Renewal – where you can choose from a range of different types of massage or a facial.
The hotel is stunning with a beachfront yoga pavilion, traditional Moroccan spa, and gorgeous accommodation. It’s a good value option with average prices around £120 per day. But being a hotel rather than a retreat, it won’t provide quite the same experience.
Hotels tend to provide a more individual trip whereas retreats offer a group experience. This means that hotels can lack the community aspect that retreats offer.
One of the biggest benefits of retreats is that their group meals and activities are great for connecting with other like-minded people. We think it’s these aspects that are a huge part of the fun!
But opting for a wellness hotel like this one can be a lot more convenient. You have so many potential travel dates to choose from that it’s much easier to book something around other commitments. So it’s definitely one to consider for all the busy wellness retreaters out there.
Cost – Paradis Plage prices start at £520 (€617/$669) per person for a 4-day program, £840 (€996/$1081) for seven days, or £1150 (€1364/$1480) for 10 days.

Plan Your Moroccan Wellness Retreat
Here are a few tips to help you plan your trip to Morocco…
When to go
Morocco enjoys a warm climate year-round. If you’re looking for sun or want to surf beginner waves, then spring and summer are ideal. But if you want to do a yoga retreat in the desert or tack on some advanced surfing, the autumn and winter seasons are better.
Where to stay
There are highly-rated wellness and spa retreats in Marrakesh, Essaouira, and Taghazout. If you’re planning to surf in addition to practicing yoga, then the latter two are best since they’re on the coast. Check out our guide to Moroccan wellness destinations for more ideas.
Getting there and away
Marrakesh and Essaouria have their own international airports that you can fly into. For Taghazout, you’ll want to fly into Agadir which is a short drive away.
What to bring
Check out our printable retreat packing lists or handy Morocco-specific packing guide. Remember that as it’s a Muslim country, you should bring conservative clothing and women should pack a headscarf.
