How would you like to visit the top yoga retreats in Morocco? They’re one of my fav wellness travel options because they’re just a short flight from Europe but feel like they’re a world away.
Moroccan yoga retreats also tend to be more affordable than other countries so you can experience them whatever your budget. We even found one that’s less than £100 – what a bargain!
In this guide – we outline the best yoga retreats in Morocco to suit every travel style and budget, from Marrakesh to the Sahara Desert.
Hi! I’m Caroline, your wellness retreat travel guide. I’ve worked in the wellness industry for 15+ years & been lucky enough to stay at amazing health resorts around the world. Let’s get you inspired & prepared to go on your own retreat…
Whether you’re looking for a transformative yoga experience, combining your practice with surfing, or some nomadic exploration, there’s something for you on this list.
The truth is, I have a real soft spot for Morrocan retreats. The first time I ever went on a retreat was to Taghazout on Morocco’s Atlantic coast. It was a surfing holiday but included sunset yoga every evening. Ever since that trip, I’ve been hooked!
So, if you want a break that combines yoga classes, North African culture, and warm hospitality, then a Moroccan yoga retreat could be ideal.

Nosade Yoga Retreats, Marrakesh & Sahara
Nosade offers yoga retreats in Marrakesh and Saharan desert retreats too. They’re a well-established and highly regarded company that runs retreats on a regular basis.
Their urban retreats in Marrakesh take place once or twice per month all year round whereas their desert retreats only happen in the cooler months. You can enjoy the latter in autumn, winter, or early spring but they don’t operate in the summer.
Nomade’s desert yoga retreats are typically 10 days long and prices start from €1495. They include yoga classes and meditation, half-board accommodation, airport transfers, camel trekking, and guided tours. You’ll get 12 yoga sessions which typically involve energising sessions in the morning and pranayama in the evening.
On a Saharan retreat, accommodation is in a traditional Riyadh or a Berber tent. You’ll get to spend unforgettable nights under the stars, experience the dunes, desert hiking, traditional live music, and Berber life. What a perfect way to combine yoga exploring and experiencing traditional culture!
Marrakesh city retreats have a slightly different setup, typically last five days. You get four nights accommodation, breakfast and dinner, six yoga sessions plus meditation and pranayama, a bike tour of Marrakesh, and airport transfers.
This option provides an adventurous yet grounding yoga retreat in the middle of vibrant Marrakesh. Prices start at €595 which is great value and includes everything so you don’t need to worry about unexpected extras.
Cost – Prices start at £500 (€595/$635) per person.
If you like the sound of an active break, then check out these Moroccan fitness retreats that include workouts and yoga classes.
La Vida Surf, Essaouira
La Vida Surf hosts incredible retreats in the coastal city of Essaouira. They offer three options; yoga and meditation, acro yoga and nature, or yoga and cooking. And as you might have guessed from the name, you can also add some surfing to your retreat package.
Each retreat type has a unique format. If you go for the yoga and meditation option, then you’ll start your day with journalling and a healthy breakfast, followed by a morning yoga class. After that, you can go mindful hiking, take part in a yoga workshop, spend the afternoon on the waves, or other traditional Moroccan wellness activities.
In the evening, it’s time for another yoga class that features dynamic and restorative yin asana practices. Then a private chef will prepare your nutritious plant-based dinner.
If you’re into the acro or cooking options then your itinerary will be slightly different. We love that La Vida offers these unique experiences that enable travellers to combine yoga with other wellness interests.
Cost – Prices start at £585 (€680/$735) per person in a shared room with en-suite.
Marrakesh Yoga Studio Retreats
The Marrakesh Yoga Studio offers retreats in a traditional Moroccan riad located close to the Dar El Bacha Royal Palace. The stunning traditional building features gorgeous local tiles, a small (but perfectly formed) pool, and is surrounded by fragrant flowers and lush plants.
Marrakesh Yoga Studio offers half-day retreats which are perfect for fitting into a city break holiday. They’re an ideal option for when you want to spend some time on yoga and relaxation without dedicating your entire trip to it. The beauty of their mini-retreats is that you can explore the souks and medinas one day and work on your yoga practice the next.
They also offer yoga classes by the hour if you just want to pop in and do a session. But we think their half-day retreats are great value at €95. You get a yoga session, a one-hour massage, and their delicious vegan meal for the price.
They also offer other blissful treatments like Ayurveda massage and sound healing bowls. So if you’re looking for somewhere that’s truly local, the Marrakesh Yoga Studio is ideal.
Cost – Prices start from £80 (€95/$100) for a half-day mini retreat.
Dfrost Yoga Retreats, Taghazout
Dfrost offers yoga retreats at their Villa Surya which is located on the edge of the Imi Ouaddar nature reserve. Nestled on the Atlantic Coast just north of Taghazout, it features a swimming pool, roof terrace, and sauna. Plus, it’s just a two-minute walk from Paradise Page Beach!
They are for lots of different yoga retreat options at Dfrost, from three-night escapes for €449 to weeklong retreats starting at €749. Each day involves fresh juice, yoga and meditation, a healthy breakfast, and daily activities like SUP yoga, followed by a yoga class, meditation, and a plant-based dinner.
They also offer lots of optional activities like horseriding, visiting the local souks, massage, cooking classes, or visiting a local commune.
The rooms are a stylish combination of boho meets modern Moroccan – they’re truly gorgeous. All feature air-conditioning and are great value starting. You might need to share bathrooms in some of the rooms so check the individual room amenities when you book.
Cost – Prices start from £90 (€107/$115) per night.
Marrakesh Oasis Retreat
The Marrakesh Oasis Retreat is a little slice of heaven close to the city. It’s run by highly experienced yogis and set in a stunning villa complex.
The rooms are decorated in soothing tones with traditional Moroccan elements. You’ll get 1-2 yoga sessions per day, accommodation, and two meals (morning and evening). Guests rate the program and food extremely highly, but airport transfers aren’t included (they’re an extra €45 each way).
Oh, did we mention there’s a pool? The Marakesh Oasis Retreat also offers optional cooking classes, village excursions, and even hot air balloon rides.
Cost – Prices start at £423 (€500/$535) per person for three nights.
Surf Berbere, Taghazout
Surf Berbere has been running retreats for years. It’s where I did my first ever yoga and surf break in 2009 and inspired my love of fitness holidays!
Their packages include daily surf lessons, supervised free surfing time, and yoga classes on their rooftop terrace. The classes are designed to complement surfing by helping you recover from a day on the waves and build muscular strength and flexibility to help you surf well.
Their surf camp is located right on the water with incredible sunset views. This accommodation is rustic and full of charm. But they’ve also got other locations including apartments too.
Surf Berbere’s food is incredible. Everything is made with fresh ingredients that feel nutritious and taste amazing. You get to enjoy evening meals as a group on the roof terrace which is a great way to make friends. Eating together is one of the best ways to get to know fellow travellers and a unique perk of retreats that standard holidays don’t offer.
Cost – Prices start at £470 (€547/$595) for one week which includes surf lessons, equipment, yoga classes, accommodation, and all meals.
Sojourn Luxury Yoga & Photography Retreat, Marrakesh
If you’re looking for a luxury Morrocan yoga retreat with a difference then Sojourn might just be for you. They’re running a photography and yoga trip to Marrakesh where you’ll enjoy six days of yoga classes and photography instruction.
Retreat participants get to stay at the Peacock Pavilions luxury boutique hotel which has been featured in dozens of magazines and TV shows. The package includes trips to the Atlas mountains and tours around Marrakesh.
There’s also a social impact component as you’ll get to enjoy one of your dinners with girls from Anne NGO. It’s a project that aims to educate and empower teenage girls in the developing world.
Plus you’ll get to enjoy unique experiences like an outdoor viewing of Casablanca with wine and popcorn. This retreat is a really special opportunity to do something a bit different. If you’re interested in photography, then this is a fantastic way to combine that hobby with a love of yoga and traveling.
These retreats aren’t a regular occurrence – there’s only one that we know of this year and it takes place in November. It’s not cheap but you do get to stay at a luxury boutique hotel and learn from experts in the field of photography and yoga.
Cost – Prices start at £2295 (€2700/$2900) for boutique accommodation, lessons, meals, and tours.

Plan Your Moroccan Yoga Retreat
Here are a few tips to help you plan your trip to Morocco…
When to go
Morocco enjoys a warm climate year-round. If you’re looking for sun or want to surf beginner waves, then spring and summer are ideal. But if you want to do a yoga retreat in the desert or tack on some advanced surfing, the autumn and winter seasons are better.
Where to stay
There are highly-rated yoga retreats in Marrakesh, Essaouira, and Taghazout. If you’re planning to surf in addition to practicing yoga, then the latter two are best since they’re on the coast.
Getting there and away
Marrakesh and Essaouria have their own international airports that you can fly into. For Taghazout, you’ll want to fly into Agadir which is a short drive away.
What to bring
